Help! spawned many budding young underground artists in their Public Gallery section. A frequent contributor was Gilbert Shelton whose Wonder Warthog made his public debut in these pages. (Wonder Warthog appeared earlier in a Texas college newspaper.)
Other contributors were Jay Lynch, who later helped start Bijou, and Robert Crumb.
