There were two concerts, one at the fairgrounds, and ours at Spartan Field. Crowds estimated over 100,000 at both. Around 65,000 at ours.
The San Jose Mercury headlines said it was a "Rock Invasion". All the news was very negative.
Our band, Throckmorton, helped with Festival duties. Left to right: George Ostrander (drums), Duke Roberts (rhythm guitar), and Ron Cook (me on Bass).
Chris Mosher was our charismatic lead singer. His operatic voice projected far across the field. His flaming red Afro stood out in any crowd.
Dennis Jay was with the Dirt Cheap Productions commune. Dirt Cheap helped produce and promote of the Festival.
Gary Watts was another Dirt Cheap member.

This is the End! The Hells Angels were hired for security. Things got out of hand, but they were again hired a few weeks later at Altamont. Things got really our of hand there!
